Pipedance is husband-and-wife team Gary Burman (uilleann pipes, flute, whistles, guitar, voice) and Nora Sherwood (retired champ Irish step dancer, whistle and bodhrán player, award-winning singer). The Gansey Loaders are the tightly knitted trio of Emma Swartz, Kate Gregory and Richie Rosencrans, Portland, playing folk music from Ireland and Appalachia. Twin fiddles, banjo, bouzouki, guitar and voices are skillfully woven into a cozy blanket of sound. A "gansey load" (in Irish : geansaí load) means a large quantity of something, originating from the practice of using your gansey (woolen jumper) as a makeshift bag by folding the front up to carry items like apples or mushrooms, or in this case, tunes in abundance!
